Template text. This is template text. It is structurally complete but legally generic, and it is not legal advice. Replace every section with a policy written for your jurisdiction, your sub-processors and the data you actually collect before publishing.
Who we are
Sightline Data Ltd ("Sightline", "we", "us") provides a semantic layer and metrics platform for data teams. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what rights you have over it.
For the purposes of UK and EU data protection law we act as a controller for data about visitors to this website and about the individual users of our product, and as a processor for the data our customers send us through the platform.
What we collect
Account data: name, work email address, organisation and role, provided when an account is created.
Usage data: pages viewed, features used, and technical information such as browser type and approximate location derived from IP address.
Customer content: the data our customers send to the service and the data the service produces from it. We process this on our customers' instructions and do not use it to train models.
Communications: the content of messages you send us, and our replies.
Why we collect it
To provide and secure the service, including authentication, billing and abuse prevention.
To meet our legal obligations, including maintaining the audit records our customers rely on.
To improve the product, using aggregated usage data that does not identify an individual.
With your consent, to send you product updates. You can withdraw that consent at any time.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept for as long as the account is active, and for a defined period afterwards to meet legal and accounting obligations.
Customer content is kept according to the retention window configured in each workspace, subject to a minimum floor and to any legal hold in force.
Where a record is deleted on schedule, we retain a minimal record that the deletion occurred, because a gap in an audit trail is itself a problem.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, port and object to the processing of your personal data, and to complain to your local supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these, write to privacy@sightline-demo.netlify.app. We respond within one month.
International transfers
Where personal data leaves the UK or EEA, we rely on adequacy decisions or on standard contractual clauses together with a transfer risk assessment.
Customers who cannot permit transfers can pin both processing and storage to a region, or host the execution plane in their own account.
Changes and contact
We announce material changes to this policy at least thirty days before they take effect.
Questions go to privacy@sightline-demo.netlify.app, or by post to the registered address on our contact page.
